Another excellent small batch Irish whiskey from Derry whiskey company the Quiet Man.
This is a blend of grain and single pot still whiskies, that has been aged in former Bourbon casks, before a finishing period in Imperial Stout casks. Imperial Stout is a stronger (usually about 9% ABV), dark style of beer with powerful chocolaty and umami flavours. Alongside the sweetness provided by the Bourbon cask, this maturation produces a complex and flavoursome whiskey.
The Quite Man Imperial Stout offers up notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, grassy malt and cereal sweetness, raisins, roasted oak, hops, cream and treacle.
Bottled at 43% ABV for a little more warmth and body, this dram is presented free from colouration.
