Produced by Canadian company Corby Distillers, this relatively recent addition to the nation’s whisky scene has won over many fans in a short period of time. This is a classic Canadian rye, finished in former Rum barrels after spending ten years in oak casks! This gives the whisky a remarkable sweet note which pairs excellently against the spicy qualities of rye. On the nose aromas of spiced bread, herbs and toffee waft up at the drinker, with a little estery Rum and a bright, vanilla-led oak note. The palate is creamy with spice and sugar flavours taking hold. A little cola emerges after a while, joined by toasted nuts and barrel char. The finish is warming, and long, with oak and Rye spice that last and last. Bottled at 41% ABV, this is a top-notch whisky from a region that is improving all the time.
