A high quality rye vodka from Philadelphia Distilling.
The bottling plays homage to the history of distillation in Pennsylvania. It bears the date 1681, the year when King Charles II of England accorded William Penn nearly 40,000 square miles of land, effectively founding the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
As some of the most fertile land in America, Pennsylvania quickly became renown for its bountiful crops of rye. Indeed, farmers enjoyed such a surplus that they began to brew and distil it. By the 18th century, it was Pennsylvania, not Kentucky, that was the centre of American distilling. It was even used as currency in the early United States.
Rye whiskey was by far the most popular American whiskey style of the era. Unfortunately Prohibition and the Great Depression destroyed the Pennsylvanian rye industry, and Bourbon became the powerhouse it is today.
With this rich history in mind, Philadelphia Distilling have chosen to make a rye vodka.
The result is a rich, characterful and slightly sweet vodka, with notes of clean rye spice and chopped herbs. The mouthfeel is thick and oily.
A perfect option for adding a rich intensity to vodka cocktails.
