A high quality Mezcal produced by the same folk behind Mezcales de Leyenda.
The bottling takes its name and label from the Squadron of Death, a rebel army raised against the Spanish empire by Miguel Hidalgo, a Mexican priest whose famous speech “the Cry of Dolores” sparked the Mexican War of Independence and who is known as “The Father of the Nation.” After Hidalgo’s execution, his squadron continued to seek revenge under his flag, which is pictured on the label.
This mezcal is produced by Mezcalero Cutberto Santiago at his family distillery in the town of Talcolula. The spirit is made with 100% agave Espadin, cooked in a traditional stone pit oven.
Pelotón de la Muerte offers flavours of ripe kiwi fruit, lime rind, peppery spice, succulent agave, chopped mint, gentle smoke, lemon juice, salt and slight leather. Surprisingly complex for a Joven.
The bottling was conceived with the cocktail bar industry in mind, and this spirit shines in mixed drinks.
