A constantly in demand whisky, Passport has had a new lease of life recently, after many bartenders have discovered its excellent quality as a base spirit in cocktails. It finds particular success in South America, being the second best-selling scotch in Brazil. Yet, as its name suggests, this is a globe-trotting blend, featuring prominently in Angola, Mexico, India and Russia. In 2015, the brand sold 1.7m cases. It’s easy to see why this whisky is growing in popularity: a good core of Speyside malt makes up the flavour profile of this dram, with a lovely, honeyed approachable feel to it. A blend that keeps things simple, and is all the better for it.
