Few things better than a long aged single grain, and here is a cracking example of the style.
This dram, from the North British distillery in Edinburgh, has been bottled by Signatory Vintage for their esteemed Cask Strength Collection.
Distilled on the 2nd of September 1991, and bottled on the 3rd of June 2020, the spirit was matured for no less than 28 years in a refill sherry butt.
The final result is a deep, sweet and delicious dram, which serves up notes of fresh red berries, dried cranberries, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet grain, floral honey, bright oak, some oat biscuits, and thick vanilla.
Bottled at a low cask strength of 46.2% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this whisky possesses a creamy and approachable mouthfeel.
Just 461 bottles were produced.
