A blended whisky with an incredible pedigree, this whisky has been created by the Mitchell family, who are the esteemed owners of Springbank and Glengyle (perhaps the most well-respected producing family in Scotch whisky). This has a higher than usual malt content than for most blends, sitting at 40% malt to 60% grain. The malt is largely drawn from the Mitchell family distilleries, Springbank and Glengyle. They also use a little of Springbank’s peated malt, Longrow, to add depth and complexity. On the nose, there is a bright citrusy note, with a light cereal sweetness, some yeasty baking notes, a little freshly cut hay and under-ripe peaches. The palate is spicy and delicious, with a sweet toffee thickness on the mouthfeel. That same cereal note returns, with a fresh and succulent peach flavor. The finish is short and sweet, with some slight barrel-char. A quite extraordinarily good value blend, with excellent provenance.
