Another bottling in Gordon and MacPhail’s excellent Discovery series, which sorts whiskies not by region, but by style, using the broad categories of “Bourbon”, “Sherry” and “Smoky”.

This whisky, from the Miltonduff distillery in Speyside is a heavily sherried dram. 10 years of maturation have given this whisky a wonderful complexity, with notes of caramelized apples, citrus rind, butterscotch, dried fruit, blackberries and raspberries, toasted malt and milk chocolate.

Bottled at 43% ABV, this is a truly delicious dram, and terrific value for money for a whisky of this quality.
