A large bottle of this Ibizan herbal liqueur which is made with local ingredients.
Like many herbal liqueurs, Mari Mayans Hierbas Ibicencas was once thought to have healing properties. The drink is based upon a traditional Ibiza recipe made by the island’s farmers for centuries. The liqueur includes botanicals such as aniseed, thyme, rosemary, lemon and orange peel, alongside other unknown ingredients.
The liqueur is made using individual extracts of each ingredient. These extracts are then combined with a sort of brandy made from wine and molasses, demineralised water and sugar.
The result is a bittersweet liqueur that features powerful herbal notes, brown sugar, dried fruits, citrus rind, cola, espresso and honey.
An excellent after dinner option, this liqueur has proved popular with tourists and revellers at the famous party island.
