Marilyn Manson is well known for his controversial on stage antics and uncompromising music.
What is perhaps less well known is that since 2007 he has, alongside absinthe master Markus Lion of the Matter-Luginbühl distillery, produced his own absinthe called “Mansinthe”.
Whilst Manson had been a long time absinthe fan, it wasn’t until he met Lion after a Basel concert that they first hatched the plan to create this bottling. Mansinthe is the product of two years’ intense development, sample tasting and trial and error.
The spirit is flavoured with wormwood, fennel, anise, hyssop, melissa, anise and pontica. As such, Mansinthe delivers powerful spicy, herbal flavours, with touches of mint, cut grass, anise and bittersweet wormwood. It has a light green hue, which louches to a minty white.
Bottled at 66.6% ABV (a fitting choice for an artist as demonic as Manson) this bottling is as fearsome as its owner.
