Whilst the company has branched out into other liqueurs, it is this plum brandy that built the reputation of Louis Roque.
Louis founded his distillery in Souillac, Gascony, in the site of a former convent. He became an expert in plum brandy, sourcing high quality fruit from local farmers. After distillation, he aged his spirit slowly in oak casks.
Louis’s cellars were located in different areas of Souillac, with each location producing a subtle variation of the spirit. These different styles were then blended together and sold direct to customer at the Louis Roque shop (where he also lived).
These production traditions are maintained to this day, and Louis Roque remains one of the best known distillers of Plum brandy. This bottling is an excellent example of the Roque spirit: serving up bright fruit, raisins, almond, oak, vanilla, grapes, prunes and ripe juicy plums.
A must try for all inquisitive spirit drinkers.
