Another delicious bottling from La Maison du Rhum.
This time round they’ve picked out a rum from Guatemalan distillery Botran.
Botran was founded by five brothers who realised that aging their rum in the higher altitude of the Guatemalan mountains slowed the effects of aging, producing a gentler flavoured and more delicate rum.
This particular bottling has been aged in re-charred former Bourbon barrels, in a Solera system. The spirit was distilled in 2010 and bottled in 2017.
The rum offers up flavours of pineapple, mango, white peach, apricot, vanilla, jammy berries, honey, passion fruit, spice, creamy oak, cedarwood, tobacco, burnt brown sugar and toffee.
Bottled at 45% ABV, this is a rich and delicious rum, perfect for slow sipping.
This bottling is the second edition, and less than 7000 bottles were produced worldwide.
