An intriguing cask-rested gin from Norwegian gin producers Kimerud.
Produced at Kimerud Farm in Lier, a region found a little outside Oslo, Norway’s capital. No less than 22 different botanicals are used to make this gin! The exact recipe is a secret, but we do know that it contains ginger root, mint, angelica, orange and lemon peel, coriander, walnuts, and juniper – of course! Notably, this gin also includes the herb Rhodiola Rosea (also known as golden root), sourced from a cliff on the Arctic Sea’s edge, imbuing the gin with a delicate maritime quality.
The gin has been distilled in an Arnold Holstein still onsite at the farm, with a potato spirit providing the base. After distillation, the spirit has been rested in sherry and French oak casks for a short while, imparting a slightly golden colour and some soft woody notes.
Drinkers can expect flavours of savoury herbs, mint, a little walnut sweetness, citrus, caramel, oak, vanilla, cream, earthy spice, juniper and sea spray.
Sip this neat from the fridge, or poured over a large single ice cube.
