Kilchoman’s annual Loch Gorm releases are always a highlight of the whisky calendar, and this 2018 edition is no exception.

Loch Gorm is the farm distillery’s heavily sherried, heavily peated offering, which has quickly become a modern classic of the Scotch world.

As with the other editions, this whisky offers superb balance between the smoky, Islay intensity, and the jammy, fruity, sweet wine flavours of the sherry.

This whisky opens with immediate Kilchoman-character, strong ashy peat, crisp fruits, and maple sweetness. After a little while, the sherry cask begins to assert itself, with notes of jammy raspberries and cherries, and raisins, ginger and clove. A fragrant tobacco smoke note provides the background.

Bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration or colouration, this is a pure expression of Kilchoman’s beautiful spirit.
