A Bourbon with a rather fascinating history from the Heaven Hill distillery.
Fitzgerald, who gives his name to this bottling, is one of the icons of the American whiskey industry. Not only did he establish his own whiskey brand, but he was also a bonded treasury agent, giving him the privilege of access to the distillery warehouses. Accordingly, he often helped himself to samples of the finest casks – to be fair, it would be hard to resist!
It was this act that gives the bottling the name Larceny. This Bourbon swaps rye out for wheat, producing a chewy, softer and less spicy final product.
Drinkers should expect notes of freshly baked pastry, cinnamon, charred new oak, cloves, nutmeg, coffee, brown sugar, cornbread, treacle, toffee apple, pepper and vanilla.
A high quality “wheater”, this dram is bottled at 46% ABV for a little more depth and body.
