Whilst Inchmoan is certainly not the most attractively named whisky on the market, this is actually the name given to Loch Lomond’s rather delicious peated whisky. Indeed, the name means “peaty island” and is taken from the name of the island found in the middle of Loch Lomond.
Loch Lomond once again demonstrates its flexibility as a distillery with this dram, which serves up notes of crisp malted barley, cream, honey, vanilla, earthy peat smoke, cracked black pepper, toffee and cinnamon.
12 years’ maturation has given this just enough complexity, and taken the edge off the spirit somewhat.
Simple, smoky and delicious stuff!
