The second entry to William Grant and Son’s new blended scotch whisky range. The range was produced in homage to Janet Sheed Roberts, who was the last living granddaughter of William Grant, and one time oldest woman in Scotland. An extraordinary lady in all regards, she was the only woman in her Edinburgh University law class, later becoming a director of the William Grant and Son company. She lived much of her life in Dufftown, just a stone’s throw from the distillery.
Quite a history to this whisky then! William Grant had to produce a spirit that reflected all the sophistication of this great lady. They have done so successfully, creating a lovely 21 year old dram which provides excellent spice, fruit and power through aging some of their malts in European oak sherry casks. The striking, decanter style bottle and handsome packaging reflects the poise and beauty of art deco design, popular during Sheed Roberts heyday in the 1920s. Superb value for money considering the provenance and age, and a whisky with a wonderful story. Would make a superb gift!
