Highland Journey is a blended malt whisky from Hunter Laing, comprised of malts from the Highland Region, including Clynelish and Teaninich matured in American oak and Blair Athol matured in Spanish sherry casks.
Nose: Very bready up front, with a lot of apple peel and post-red-wine glass, slight cask funk, and a lot of vanilla fudge with hints of heather honey.
Palate: Very sweet, becoming spicy and peppery, with hints of citrus, cinnamon and anise. Apples and pears return, as does a slight sherry funk.
Finish: Medium, warm hay and barley, and slight nuttiness.
Overall: A nice little blend, bringing sherry and bourbon casks together neatly, and taking you on a lovely tour of the highland distilleries.
