A fascinating rye whiskey from the Hardenberg distillery in Germany.

This bottling has been made with a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and has been finished in what the distillery describes as “Cooper’s Reserve & German Napoleon oak barrels”.

The final product is a toasty, spicy dram with notes of buttery malt bread, caramel, a wisp of char, cinnamon, cloves, rye, black pepper, floral honey and vanilla.

An excellent addition to the burgeoning European rye scene. Superb in cocktails.
