A bottling of a truly iconic brand of blended Scotch whisky! The company first set up by John Haig in 1751 (though his family had been distilling for some time before that). They are the oldest distilling company still operational in Scotland – though now owned by spirits giant Diageo. His grandson, another John, established the Cameronbridge grain distillery in 1824, which produces much of the spirit used in this bottling, and was the first to use the column still. Haig Gold Label has maintained its quality through the years, largely due to the fact it uses 40% malt in the blend, much of which comes from the illustrious Glenkinchie and Linkwood distilleries. A slightly smoky and supple blend, which is a workhorse in cocktails and delivers enough reliable quality to make for an excellent daily drinker.
