One of the oldest gin companies still in existence, Gordon’s have been making gin since 1769! Founded by a Londoner, and distilled in London until 1984, Gordon’s Gin is partly responsible for the association of the city with gin! This is one of the bone fide classics of the drinks industry, and is recognised all over the world for its quality (it was also very popular with the Royal Navy, leading to its worldwide market!). Gordon’s is made to a classic recipe, that has been kept a secret for over 250 years, and is only known to twelve people at any one time. The gin is distilled three times to remove impurities, and contains a number of botanicals, including: coriander seeds, lemon peel, angelica root, liquorice, orris root, orange peel and, of course, juniper berries. This was one of James Bond’s favourites, and the original gin used in the Vesper Martini. A favourite with more than just spies, this is the world’s best selling gin, and part of every gin drinker’s education!
