A fascinating whiskey from an unusual source.

This small batch, single malt whisky is produced by the Goalong Distillery in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, South Central China.

This whisky is made with Australian malted barley, and has been aged for five years in a combination of bourbon and brandy casks. The climate in Changsha means the spirit matures at a faster rate.

The spirit itself delivers notes of red apple, toffee, vanilla, lemon rind, peppery spice, sweet youthful malt, sweet dried fruits, subtle cinnamon and gentle toasted oak.

An impressive dram at a young age. Chinese single malt is on the march.
