Another delightful cask finish from Highland distillery Glenglassaugh. This bottling, alongside the also excellent Port Cask finished offering, represented the very first cask finished bottlings to be released by Glenglassaugh, when they arrived in late 2017.
In this instance the dram has been matured in former Bourbon American oak casks initially, before being moved over to sweet, syrupy Pedro Ximenéz casks for a two year finishing period.
The result is a sweet, complex and deeply flavoured whisky. The dram serves up flavours of prunes, rum soaked peaches, vanilla, sherry, chocolate, barrel char, dried fruit, spice, fresh cherries and slight wine tannins.
Bottled at 46% ABV, and without chill filtration or artificial colouration, this is a thick, succulent whisky.
