A single malt whisky produced by the Loch Lomond distillery – which is famed for the many brands, and styles of whisky it produces.
This dram is named after flamboyant 19th century chief of Clan MacDonell of Glengarry, Alexander Ranaldson MacDonell – who features on the label.
The spirit itself is 12 years old, and has been aged in three types of cask: Bourbon barrels, refill casks and ‘re-charred’ casks.
Drinkers should expect light, gentle flavours of malt, apples, vanilla, toffee, flowers, orange, pineapple and a touch of barrel char.
An easy drinking Highlander, with good balance.
