Back with a vengeance, this is the revived bottling of Glendronach Revival!
This whisky was (in)famously discontinued by the distillery in 2015, as they did not have enough stock. Prior to this break in production, it had gained a reputation for outstanding quality, partly because the distillery’s periods of closure actually meant it was a little older than 15 years.
A well sherried whisky, as is Glendronach’s speciality, the dram was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks.
The result is a fragrant, complex and deep whisky. Glendronach Revival serves up flavours of oily nuts, dark red fruits, apples, brown sugar, liquorice, ginger, slight espresso, dried fruits, dark oak, cinnamon, orange peel, and cedarwood.
To ensure the richness and body of this whisky, the spirit is presented at 46% ABV.
A welcome return for this belter of a whisky.
To be honest, Revival 15 yo still a quite good, but I won't buy again. Dropping non-chillfilteration is a slap in the face for whisky enthusiasts.
Pure awesomeness!
