The Spanish are said to be one of the early adopters of distillation, having absorbed the skill from Arab invaders during Umayyad Caliphate of the 8th century. This began with the production of raw spirit which was sold to the Netherlands for the production of medicines and jenever, but gradually grew into the brandy industry we see today.

This bottling is one of the bestselling brandies in its native country. The brandy is made with a base of Airen and Palomino, both of which are popular in the sherry industry. The spirit is then aged for several years in a sherry cask solera system, which is a series of casks in which the brandy is drawn from the oldest cask, which is then topped up with the spirit from next oldest, and the next (and so on). The result is a deeply flavoured and consistent brandy.

Fundador delivers flavours of dried apricot, sultanas, prunes, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, old oak, vanilla, grapes, sherry, nuts and brown sugar.
