A mintier version of the Fernet Branca amaro with an interesting backstory.
Maria Callas, the famous Greek-American opera singer (who was also famous for her love affair with Aristotle Onassis, then one of the world’s richest men), who lived in Italy during the 50s and 60s, preferred to drink her Fernet Branca with the addition of mint.
Her legions of fans began to follow suit, requesting Fernet and mint from bars. In response, Fernet released this bottling in 1965, and it has been a runaway hit ever since.
This is made much like the original Fernet Branca, but with the addition of peppermint oil. It is also bottled at the lower strength of 30% ABV. Fernet is already pretty minty, and this bottling kicks things up a notch to create a refreshing amaro.
A traditional hangover cure, it makes for an interesting cocktail ingredient.
Great after a meal
