Eden Mill, a distillery located in the Lowland region of Scotland, is well known for its excellent gins and beers.
This whisky was released on St Andrews Day (30th November) 2018, just the second single malt produced by Eden Mill. The whisky is made with a mixture of propino and golden promise barley varieties, and is said to be a selection of the best “honey casks” in the distillery’s reserves.
This bottling has been matured in a mixture of four Oloroso sherry hogsheads, four first fill Bourbon barrels, and a handful of octave (a smaller cask about a quarter of the size of a standard American barrel) Pedro Ximinez sherry casks, meaning it is a true small batch expression.
Youthful and invigorating, drinks should expect notes of vanilla, barley sugar, hazelnut, peach, plums, sherry, oak, fruit cake, port wine, red berries, raisins and dried apricot.
A well balanced dram with a light body, the whisky has been bottled at 46.5% ABV, for a little more intensity.
Just 3,200 of these old fashioned bottles were produced.
