Not something you see every day, this is a peated Irish whiskey!
Dunville’s is another Irish whiskey brand which has recently been restored to its former glory. Having disappeared in the first half of the 20th century, this brand was revived in 2016.
The bottling contains a blend of single malt and single grain Irish whiskey, which has enjoyed a finishing period in a peated cask to further boost its smoky credentials.
The result is an Irish dram rich in flavours of wood smoke, peat, toffee, grain, grass, burnt coffee, dark berries, slight herbs and stewed apples.
Bottled at 43.5% ABV for a touch more intensity, this is a rather fascinating dram.
I love this whiskey. It immediately evokes memories of sitting around a campfire on a cool night.
