Produced the new Shed distillery found in Leitrim, Ireland, that has started to make its own pot still and single malt whiskies, this gin is produced using a dizzying array of interesting botanicals. Drumshanbo Gunpowder gin is so named because it is made using gunpowder tea. Gunpowder tea is not actually made using explosives, but is thus named because the tea leaves that make it are rolled into small balls that look much akin to the powder. Other botanicals are: meadowsweet, cardamom, star anise, caraway, coriander, orris, angelica, lime, lemon and (of course) juniper. The result is a tannic, bright and citrusy gin, with a delicious, powerful flavour. Bottled at the slight higher proof of 43% ABV, and presented in a lovely decanter style bottle, this is a wonderful gin that would make a great gift for any gin lover.
