A youthful and spritely Cognac – the youngest in the De Luze range – this is nevertheless a delightful and delicious spirit. De Luze have been making Cognac since their foundation in 1822, though the owning Boinaud family have been making wine and spirits since 1640: 24 generations of experience. It is this know how that allows them to create such marvelous spirits with consistency. The cognac is produced with grapes grown entirely in the Fine Champagne cru, meaning that grapes from both Grand and Petite Champagne (considered the two finest crus in the Cognac region) were used to make De Luze VS. The Cognac was distilled in the Boinaud family’s pair of traditional copper pot stills. This is a VS Cognac, so the spirit was aged for a minimum of two years in French Oak casks, adding flavours of vanilla, toffee and stone fruit and rounding out the spirit’s rough edges. An excellent value VS, which demonstrates that this grade can produce some wonderful hidden gems.
