Following on from the infamous Loch Dhu, this whisky is the answer to the question: how dark can a whisky be? The name is pronounced “Ka-doo”, and would translate as “black dog” if not for the fact that black is usually spelt “dubh” in Gaelic. This is in fact a single malt from Speyside distillery (recently rebranded as simply Spey). Unlikely most of their whisky, this is a lightly smoked whisky. In recent years this whisky has become a little harder to come by, and although it certainly has a helping hand from its friend distiller’s caramel, fans of the dram defend it to the hilt. A curiosity, and one certainly worth trying. Note that this whisky is presented in a 1 litre bottle, giving you even more dram for your buck.
