An aged white rum might seem like something of a contradiction in terms, but St. Croix based distillery Cruzan show that it’s possible.
This rum is a blend of spirits that have been aged for between one to four years in American oak casks, before being heavy filtered to remove colour.
The result is a light, chardonnay coloured rum that retains the character and body of its aging, without the heavy colouring of a dark rum.
The bottling serves up crisp brown sugar notes, accompanied by a little spice, tropical fruit and a touch of gentle oak.
Perfect for adding character to mixed drinks that require a clear base spirit, this is a great value rum, especially in this one litre bottling.
