First established way back in 1939 to celebrate the Royal Visit of George VI. Having been on the shelves for nearly 80 years, this is one of the classic Canadian whiskies. Full in flavour, yet remaining subtle and with a faint hint of peat, Crown Royal is an excellent balanced blend of over 50 different whiskies. Production of Crown Royal is a huge affair, with it requiring nearly three and a half million litres of water and over 10,000 bushels of corn every day. Distillation occurs at the Crown Royal distillery at Gimli, near to the water source of Lake Winnipeg. This whisky is then matured in 50 warehouses across a complex spanning 5 acres, currently Crown Royal have 2 million barrels in storage.
Few whiskies can claim to be an icon, but Crown Royal is certainly one of them. For good reason too, this is a world whisky worth the attention of every whisky drinker.
