A delightful dram from the closed Cambus distillery, once one of the largest distilleries in the world.
Cambus closed in 1991, and now host Diageo’s cooperage centre in the Scottish town of Alloa, during its heyday, however, its spirit was ranked highly by blenders around Scotland.
This bottling (part of Signatory Vintage’s Cask Strength range) was distilled on the 29th of May 1991, and bottled on the 5th of March 2020, having aged for fully 28 years in a refill Sherry Butt.
This dram opens up with flavours of dark grain and spiced dried fruits, followed by notes of vanilla, old oak, slight leather, liquorice, some rye like spices, slight malt, chocolate, tobacco leaf, nutty sherry, black pepper, and mashed bananas.
Signatory have drawn this bottling at a hefty 58.4% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, ensuring a full bodied, fully flavoured whisky.
