An attractive bottling of Venezuelan rum from the DUSA group, who also produce Diplomatico. This brand is enormously successful in Spain, so much so that Diageo now own the brand. It is also a bestseller in its home country.
A mixture of rums, some of which are up to 8 years old, this has been produced in column stills.
The rum is vibrant and sweet, with notes of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, slight coffee, faint oak, dark chocolate, a little spice, and gentle flowers.
Very easy going, this is an excellent rum for both sipping and mixing.
The figure on the label is an Arawak chieftain, the Arawak lived in Venezuela (and across South America) prior to European conquest, and Cacique means “Native Chief” in South American Spanish.
