Fans of Penderyn distillery will know they produce a superb quality of Single Malt. What they might not know is that they also make an equally good Welsh gin. Produced using botanicals including clove, saffron, cinnamon, lemon, orange, bergamot, coriander, and (of course) juniper. Penderyn use top quality grain spirit and a unique recipe in making this carefully balanced gin, alongside pure water from the titular Brecon Beacons. The resulting gin is spicy, earthy and bright with bittersweet citrus and juniper flavours. The bottling strength of 43% ABV allows these flavours to sing through, even in the most complex of mixed drinks. Brecon Botanicals picked up the highest award, the Gin Trophy, at the International Spirits Challenge of 2014, whilst it also received Gold Awards in the 2014 and 2015 Gin Masters. This is a small batch production, with slight variations between each consignment.
