Another addition to the burgeoning barrel-aged gin scene, this time produced by the American company, Philadelphia distilling! This bottling takes their classic Bluecoat American Dry gin (the gin takes its name from the colour of the coats that the local Revolutionary militias) that has been distilled in a traditional copper pot still. The exact recipe of this gin is a closely kept secret (we do know it features juniper berries, coriander, citrus rind and angelica root), but this is a typical American dry– slightly softer than its London dry cousins, with a citrusy profile and muted juniper flavour. The gin is then aged for at least 3 months in a new American oak barrel, which brings out the spicier, earthier flavours of the gin, whilst adding fantastic notes of vanilla, and toffee fudge. A really interesting barrel aged gin, that benefits considerably from being bottled at the higher strength of 47% ABV, giving the flavours a big boost!
