A wonderful, well matured Bladnoch from Gordon & MacPhail’s recently revamped Connoisseurs Choice range.
This Lowland dram is a 1988 vintage, bottled on the 10th of April 2019, following a full 30 years of maturation in a single refill American oak hogshead (cask number 19/006). Such a long maturation has created a whisky of a beautiful, delicate yet sophisticated character.
The result is a classic Lowland dram, with a glissando of delicious flavours. Drinkers can expect robust opening notes of crunchy red apple, tinned peaches and stewed rhubarb, soon accompanied by cinnamon, cloves, gentle anise, a little orange rind, slight chilli, dark chocolate, crunchy malt and flowers.
Bottled at a cask strength of 55.8% ABV and without either chill filtration or artificial colouration, this is a spicy and satisfying whisky.
Stocks of this whisky are highly limited, with only 155 bottles produced.
