A Wheat whiskey from Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky.
Unlike “Wheater” Bourbons, the majority of this whiskey is made with wheat, with the mashbill comprised of: 51% winter wheat, 39% corn, and 10% malted barley. It is said to be the only “straight” American wheat whiskey available.
The spirit is aged for 7 years in New American oak casks, with the result a bready, chewy whiskey packed with flavour. Bernheim serves up notes of fresh pastry, sweet corn, vanilla, toffee, vivid bright oak, cinnamon, cherrywood, cloves and biscuits.
Bottled at a warming 45% ABV, Bernheim has been a big hit with whiskey reviewers, with it being awarded a score of 17.75 out of a possible 20 from legendary critics Michael Jackson and David Broom, earning it the prestigious Gold 'Editor's Choice Award’. Jim Murray has given it “Wheat Whiskey of the Year” twice.
A classic dram from Heaven Hill.
