An interesting sparkling wine from Bernard-Massard, a Luxembourg based winery.
The Champagne region actually runs reasonably close to the border with Luxembourg, so this wine style, technically known as Crémant de Luxembourg, shouldn’t come as too much as a surprise.
A dry wine, made with local Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. The wine is made in the traditional method, whereby the wine enjoys a second fermentation in the bottle, and a minimum of 9 months bottle maturation in the bottle.
The wine pours a clear straw colour, with a verdant tinge. Sélection Brut offers notes of grapefruit, green kiwi, apples, tart grapes, almond and slight yeasty pastry. This bottling possesses a persistent fine bubble, and a creamy mousse.
A great value alternative to the more established French Champagne houses, this would pair well with white fish and chicken dishes. A good appetizer wine too.
