Established in 2009 by Berlin native Vincent Honrodt, in an attempt to recreate the gin that his great-grandfather made.

Brandsifter translates as “Arsonist”, so called as it is a fierier and more intense flavour than Honrodt’s Berlin Dry Gin. This gin is made with botanicals found on the family farm (which was only returned to the family after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989): juniper, elderflower, cucumber, woodruff (a herb similar to meadowsweet) and malva (a flower related to mallow).

Each botanical is macerated separately in a base spirit of German wheat distillate, before being blended together. This process ensures that the botanicals maintain a strong integrity throughout, whilst the wheat base spirit gives this gin a buttery mouthfeel.

The result is a strikingly unique gin, which opens with notes of flowers, red berries, raspberries, orchard fruit, pine-led juniper, spice, jammy fruits, cracked pepper and cucumber freshness.

Bottled at 43.3% ABV, this is a warming, complex and thoroughly modern gin (with a strong family history) that represents exactly what Berlin is all about.
