Ballantine’s have never before bottled a single malt, despite having been in the whisky business for nearly 200 years.
Here they have bottled a whisky from Glenburgie, a distillery that you do not see a lot of, as a single malt anyway. Known for its slightly meaty, oily and fragrant quality, the whisky is the heart of the Ballantine’s blend.
Here it has been aged for 15 years in American oak casks, producing a delightful Speysider of depth and complexity.
This Glenburgie delivers flavours of baked fruits, demerera sugar, ginger, peppery spice, toasted malt, oily nuts, popcorn, buttery vanilla and citrus rind.
A dram of excellent balance, this is a high class maiden single malt for Ballantine’s.
