A smoky single malt from Ian Macleod’s always reliable As We Get It series.
Produced at a mystery distillery in Islay, suggested by some to be Bunnahabhain, this is a tasty, no-frills peated whisky.
This bottling offers up notes of sweet peat smoke, chilli, hot cinnamon, grassy herbs, barley, brown sugar, lemon rind, biscuit, slight iodine and apple, with a touch of burnt oak. A good balance of sweet and savoury.
As ever with As We Get It, this dram is bottled at a fearsome cask strength of 60.6% ABV (a touch of water is welcome with this one), and without chill filtration or colouration.
A great option for the peatheads who enjoy high strength drams.
Excellent value. Sweet, smoky and very smooth
