This is yet another addition to anCnoc’s growing range of peated whiskies. So far, all of these peated expressions were named after tools used for working with peat – However, it seems they ran out of tools to name this one after, and instead it takes the name “stack” as a reference to the last step in the gathering process of peat, where peat blocks are stored in a big stack to dry before being burned. Contrary to some of the earlier releases, this whisky was peated to a higher ppm of 20 ppm, which is actually still on the low end when compared to most Islay distilleries. So, if you’re on the lookout for a moderately peated dram, maybe as a stepping stone to the big and brash whiskies of Islay, this one is for you.
This expression was released as a Europe exclusive bottling on the 24th of Septemper, 2016.
