A whisky that demonstrates so much of what is good about the burgeoning Japanese whisky industry. Simplicity, harmony and precision are all on show in this bottling.
This blended whisky has been produced at the Eigashima, or White Oak, distillery which was founded way back in 1888. Akashi takes its name from Akashi-shi, the southern Japanese city in which the distillery is found.
This is the entry level bottling from Akashi, and as such it is as drinkable and approachable as one would expect. Rich in lovely stone fruit and citrus notes, a light oaky flavour and vanilla creaminess will keep you coming back for more.
From its medicinal style bottle (with screw-top closure!) to its understated label, this is a superb introduction to the world of Japanese whisky!
A very nice whiskey. Smooth, and just a hint of fruitiness.
