Another phenomenal whisky from the White Oak Akashi distillery, found in Hyogo, Japan.

Akashi, whilst not the best known, are one of the finest Japanese distilleries, taking sake producing techniques which have been honed over centuries, and applying them to whisky-making.

This particular dram has been aged in a former sherry cask for five years, producing a thick, jammy and fruity whisky. The final product follows up notes of raisins, dried cranberries, cherries, raspberries, smoked spices, lapsang souchong, oak, earthy vanilla, blackcurrants, dark chocolate, treacle and citrus rind.

Bottled at 50% ABV for extra body and depth, this is a cracking sherried dram.
