Ardmore is a marvellous distillery, originally founded to provide Teacher’s with a consistent source of peated malt whisky. Indeed, this is what is most striking about Teachers, they are a highland whisky, but they are also peated, which is now unusual for whisky of this region. This adds a wonderful smoky character to the typical fruity, spicy highland style. This particularly whisky has been aged for a period in American white oak casks, before a further finishing period in port pipe casks. These casks grant the whisky a delicious fruity, sweet red fruit character, giving it an extra layer of complexity. Particularly outstanding about this whisky is the lingering finish, rich in flamed orange peel flavour. A genuinely delicious dram, which pairs sweetness and smoke expertly. This whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration.
